companyLEARN in the chat
Through the Learn MCP server, companyLEARN is also available in the CompanyGPT chat. The assistant finds courses, enrolls you, shows your progress and opens lessons and quizzes right in the conversation. It works with your account: whatever you complete in the chat counts exactly as it does in the interface.
You need the Use courses permission (see Permissions).
Enabling the MCP server
Section titled “Enabling the MCP server”Select the Learn MCP server in the chat – the same way you add other MCP servers to a conversation. General information is on MCP Server. After that, a request in plain language is enough, for example “Which courses are available?”.
The tools
Section titled “The tools”The server provides seven tools. You don’t call them yourself: the assistant picks them based on your request and takes the identifiers (IDs) of courses, lessons and quizzes from its earlier results.
| Tool | Purpose | Inputs |
|---|---|---|
learn_list_courses | List published courses, each with enrollment status and progress | optional enrolledOnly: only courses you are enrolled in |
learn_course_overview | Outline of a course with chapters, lessons and quiz, including lock and completion status | courseId |
learn_enroll | Enroll in a published course and name the first lesson; calling it again changes nothing | courseId |
learn_my_progress | Progress across all enrolled, published courses, with a suggestion for the next step in each | – |
learn_watch_lesson | Show a lesson (video or text) in the chat | lessonId |
learn_take_quiz | Show a quiz in the chat | quizId |
learn_open_ui | Open companyLEARN’s interface in the chat: dashboard (default), course catalog or a specific course | optional page (dashboard, courses or course) and courseId (required for course) |
The tools only list published courses. Lessons and quizzes can only be opened after enrolling and only in unlocked chapters; otherwise the assistant receives a corresponding notice, for example that you need to enroll first. You cannot create or change courses through the chat – that is what course management is for.
Lessons and quizzes in the chat
Section titled “Lessons and quizzes in the chat”learn_watch_lesson, learn_take_quiz and learn_open_ui show companyLEARN right in the conversation, without sidebar and menu:
- Lesson: The title plus course and chapter are shown at the top, below them the Mark complete button, then the video or the text. A video that plays to the end is marked as done automatically.
- Quiz: You answer the questions, click Submit answers and see the result – just as in the interface (see Quiz). In addition, the quiz automatically sends your result to the conversation as a message, with score, pass threshold and number of correct answers. This lets the assistant respond to it right away, for example by suggesting the next step. Retry starts a new attempt; its result also arrives in the chat as a new message.
- Interface: The dashboard, the course catalog or a course page appear as in companyLEARN, only without the sidebar.
Below an embedded lesson or quiz, Open full course opens the course in companyLEARN in a new tab.

Assigning the Learn tools to an agent
Section titled “Assigning the Learn tools to an agent”Instead of enabling the MCP server in every chat, you can create an agent with the Learn tools, for example as a learning companion for your team. companyLEARN does not ship ready-made agents or skills.
-
Create an agent or open an existing one (see Agents).
-
Add the Learn MCP server to the agent and select the tools it should use. For a learning companion, all seven are usually useful.
-
Add short instructions, for example:
You support employees learning with companyLEARN.Use the Learn tools to find courses, show progress and openlessons and quizzes directly in the chat. After each step, suggest the next one. When you show a lesson or a quiz, do notwrite any additional introductory text. -
Save the agent and share it with your team if needed.
